Tariqat
A tariqat is a school or order of Sufism. Every tariqat has its own way of spiritual practices, and all are connected to a lineage: Chishtiya, Qadriya, Naqshbandiya, Burhaniya and others.

یَوْمَ نَدْعُوْا كُلَّ اُنَاسٍۭ بِاِمَامِهِمْۚ-فَمَنْ اُوْتِیَ كِتٰبَهٗ بِیَمِیْنِهٖ فَاُولٰٓىٕكَ یَقْرَءُوْنَ كِتٰبَهُمْ وَ لَا یُظْلَمُوْنَ فَتِیْلًا
Surah Al-Isra · 17:71The Day We will call forth every people with their leader. Then whoever is given his record in his right hand, those will read their records, and they will not be wronged at all, not even as much as the weight of a speck of dust.
The Arabic word tariqat means path and also refers to a Sufi community. Tariqat Burhaniya was founded in the 13th century by Sayyidi Ibrahim Disuqi and his uncle Sayyidi Abul Hasan ash-Shadhuli. Its complete name, Tariqat Burhaniya Disuqiya Shadhuliya, honors its founder Burhan-u-Din, which means The Evidence of Religion.

On the spiritual path toward Allah one requires a mentor. A tariqat has a Murshad, the guide who plays the role of leader and spiritual director showing the way toward Allah.
The members and followers of a tariqat are known as muridin: seekers of the path who keep their daily adhkar and take steps, one by one, toward Allah with their guide.

Dhikr is the remembrance of Allah commanded in the Qur'an for all Muslims through a specific devotional act, such as the repetition of divine names and supplications.
وَ مَاۤ اَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ اِلَّا رِجَالًا نُّوْحِیْۤ اِلَیْهِمْ فَسْــٴَـلُـوْا اَهْلَ الذِّكْرِ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُوْنَۙ
Surah An-Nahl · 16:43And We sent not before you except men to whom We revealed Our message. So ask the people of the message if you do not know.

Al-Burhaniya was renewed by the Sudanese Sheikh Mawlana Mohamed Osman Abdu al Burhani (1902 to 1983). Its leadership was carried on to Sheikh Ibrahim (to 2003) and thereafter to Sheikh Mohamed.
